From Our Founder

My name is Misty Smith. I am the founder of ANIMAL Rescue. We have been established since Feb 2020 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our full name is Arkansas Network IMproving Animal Life (ANIMAL) and our mission is to help the homeless and unwanted dogs in Central Arkansas find good, permanent, forever homes. I volunteered for many years at our city pound and always adopted dogs from shelters and took in many that couldn’t find good homes. We know shelter dogs make the best pets.

We formed this organization to help animals in our area to find loving homes that can provide basic medical care such as spay/neuter surgery and heartworm prevention.  In our first year, we signed a mutual aid agreement with the city of Sheridan to provide love and services to our city shelter and homeless dogs. We place most of these animals for local adoptions, but we have many more dogs and pups than homes for them.  Since we have taken over the adoptions at our city shelter, only 12 dogs have been placed locally. Clearly, there are not enough local qualified adopters for our animals.

I am contacting animal adoption agencies that will work with us to provide homes for our shelter and homeless dogs. We strive to build partnerships with animal adoption groups/agencies who focus on helping rescue animals find loving, stable permanent homes in other states.

If you can help us or know of another dog adoption center who can help please contact me directly at 870.942.9552 or arfunlady@live.com or animalnetworkAR@gmail.com
